Huang Xiaoming spends 5 hours in wheelchair

Following his serious leg fracture, China actor Huang Xiaoming was forced to miss some of the promotional events for his two epic Chinese period films, "The Guillotines" and "The Last Tycoon".

Jayne Stars reported that on 18 December, Xiaoming steeled himself and made a five-hour journey in his wheelchair to attend the premiere of "The Last Tycoon" in Shanghai despite his doctors' advice.

The journey was made on the high speed rail. Both the actor and his manager, Huang Bin, cracked jokes about his plight and took many photographs, captioning them as "Iron Rod Man's First Journey on the High Speed Rail" and posted them on his Weibo.

Xiaoming's optimism and determination has been acknowledged by his fans when they too took to calling him "Iron Rod Man" after he gave himself the moniker on his Weibo.

The leg fracture that Xiaoming sustained was during filming for "The Bride With White Hair", which left him with four iron rods and two iron needles in his body.

At "The Last Tycoon" premiere, Xiaoming was given special treatment by his co-star and veteran actor, Chow Yun-fat. The latter wheeled Xiaoming on stage and fanned him, but exclaimed to the audience, "Luckily he's not dead!"

However, Xiaoming lamented that he was unable to attend the premiere for his other movie, "The Guillotines".

"How I wish the journey from Beijing to Shanghai takes only 2 hours! Then I will be able to make it to Taipei too! My heart is there although my feet can't be there!"
