Actor-Singer Chen Kun Talks about Difficult Past

Chinese mainland actor-singer Chen Kun has made a rare gesture to talk about his family in a TV show, saying his sister used to sell blood to finance his career, reports.

Appearing as a guest on "Entertainment-News@Asia", Chen told hostess Patty Hou, "When I was learning dancing in Beijing, my elder sister used to sell her blood for the money to buy off people so I could get acting opportunities. But she passed away in a car accident during a time when I was achieving some success in acting."

Chen also talked about his mother. "When we had some money, my mom would buy good food for me and she wouldn't eat. I later found a job in a restaurant, but she still kept good food for me. Her attitude towards life had a great influence on me. I won't get lost in fame."

The report cited Chai Xiaoqian, Chen's publicist, as saying that Chen's parents divorced when he was young, so he was brought up by his mother and had a difficult childhood.

The 34-year-old star is known for films including "Painted Skin", "Mulan" and "The Knot".

However, Chen seldom talks about his personal life in public.
