SHANGHAI: Although hurdler Liu Xiang settled for second place at the Shanghai Golden Grand Prix yesterday, the comeback hero did not disappoint in his first race after a 13-month absence due to a foot injury.

The Chinese superstar was narrowly beaten by current world No 2 Terrence Trammell of the United States in the 110 m hurdles, though both finished in 13.15 seconds.

"I almost could not control myself after I started to run because I was so charged by the enthusiastic audience here," Liu said after the race. "After the start, I wasn't trailing behind Trammell so I tried my best to chase him."

I was at TIFF when this movie premiered, and though I didn't watch it, it didn't get very good reviews from audience members... :3 Here's what one review said:

Ultimately "The Warrior and the Wolf" has the feel of good folklore, as Lu and his rape-bait find cursed love and transformation by giving into their animal desires. The execution is so trying, though. The photography is gorgeous and the storytelling nears on bankruptcy. Director Zhuangzhuang Tian fundamentally botches the rape/sex material, and his choices falls straight into the camp of hard-line "women want to be forced!" male fantasy. Movies like this are deserving of their own MPAA classification: "Rated triple-R for Rape after Rape after Rape."
