Rumour has it that Hong Kong superstar Andy Lau has been offered RMB$30 million (approximately S$6.34 million) to replace Taiwanese singer Harlem Yu on the judging panel of popular reality singing contest The Voice of China.
The past two seasons of The Voice of China broke viewership records and raked in huge profits from commercials. To ensure the show's continued success in its third season, the production team is believed to have been in talks with Andy since last year.
Sources claimed that Andy had initially asked for S$10 million in appearance fees. After numerous negotiations, both parties reached an agreement to reduce the amount to S$6 million.
In addition, Taiwanese diva A-Mei, Chinese songstress Na Ying and singer Wang Feng, will reportedly remain on the judging panel in The Voice of China 3.
When contacted by reporters yesterday, the producer clarified that the confirmed list of judges will only be announced after Chinese New Year.
